Engaging

August 10, 2010

The easiest way to keep someone interested in you is to show genuine interest in them. That’s all engagement is about. Pay attention to your significant other or potential significant other and just listen and reflect on the first personal thoughts they share with you. Stick to that topic asking at least 3 progressive questions.

  1. genuine is the word. you’re right.
anything unreal won’t last. personaly it’s just a bonus if somebody got interested in me because i like being interested to others more. i have 3 questions for you:
    1. why at least 3 progressive questions?
    2. how do you feel when someone is interested in you?
    3. how does engagement differs from communication?
    🙂

Great questions the key to engaging someone is to make certain that they know your focus is dedicated to them in a meaningful way. So thinking of 3 questions give you a simple start if you’ve never engaged someone like this before. It also gives you options of where you’d like to start. When someone is interested in me I feel a sense of humility. Engagement is more about connection and this is the bridge to true communication. All too often we are trying to impress the other person with our preconceived notion of what they may like instead of simply getting to know from them what they like.

  2. i thought it’s communication to engagement and not the other way around. thank you! i learnned something today and this stuck, ‘All to often we are trying to impress the other person with our preconceived notion of what they may like instead of simply getting to know from them what they like’ 🙂
